MoCCA Art Festival 2009 Promotional Poster

I had the pleasure of working with Molly Crabapple, an illustrator I absolutely adore, as well as the fine folks at MoCCA on this project promoting the MoCCA Art Festival 2009. I really love the illustration Molly did for this piece (see her original below the final designed piece above). The design was a lot of fun as Molly left a great area to work with. I added extra bubbles for the special guest info (to keep in with the underwater theme) as well as the text treatment, bumped up the color regarding for it's translation to print, extension of the illustrated border to fit the design as well as other design elements. This poster was then re-worked for Ads (Village Voice and The Onion) as well as web banners and t-shirts (to be sold at the event).

We have had the pleasure of working with our new client, A Wave Blue World, on some collateral they needed produced for their upcoming graphic novel release. So far, we have created this sell sheet and bookmark. We are currently working on a post card as well as part of the jacket design that will be added to this post soon.

This logo was for the same client who requested the "Darla Teaches Yoga" web banners below. This logo was meant to be a bit more serious and elegant in contrast to the fun and fanciful feel of her personal website banners. It will be utilized for her new studio being built in Houston, TX.

A wonderful collaboration between Joe Wos, director of Dr. Sketchy's Pittsburgh and of The Toonseum, Molly Crabapple, creator of Dr. Sketchy's, and Nicola Black Design, L.L.C. who brings you Dr. Sketchy's Philadelphia.
These CDs will premiere at SketchyCon this year and will soon be for sale at participating Dr. Sketchy's branches.

Copyright infringement
It has come to my attention that rather than use my designs as inspiration, someone has blatantly lifted my work and added their own text. This is copyright infringement. My designs are created for my clients and are all protected. Please understand that stealing these ideas will result in legal action. The work that I've done is protected by copyright law and taking the art work, stripping out text here and there and adding your own is not acceptable. DO NOT LIFT MY WORK AND CALL IT YOUR OWN.
To help resolve this issue, overtime you will begin to see my logo as a water mark on all examples in my portfolio.
